The Mark Webber Challenge Foundation

Combines Mark’s incredible focus we see on the racetrack with his desire to help others off the track. It raises money for the Leukemia Foundation, and other Australian charities that help improve the lives of young children with life-threatening illnesses, as well as environmental conservation projects

The charity, which was established in 2006, has a strong philosophy of providing direct assistance to those in need.

Since it was created the Foundation has raised over £600,000 to a number of nominated charities including TLC for Kids, Brainwave and the Cancer Council Tasmania’s Cancer Plus.
Recently the Foundation supported the Leukemia Foundation in funding their Bell City Apartments that are used to house patients and their families from regional and rural areas while they are receiving treatment in city hospitals.

The Foundation was also involved in May 2011 with auctioning a signed wishbone to support the cancer treatment of V8 supercar star, Jason Richards raising over £7,000.
Later this year the Foundation plans to run its major fundraiser, the Swisse Mark Webber Tasmania Challenge once again with beneficiaries yet to be announced.

The Challenge has been on a three-year hiatus after Mark broke his leg during the 2008 event. The course takes competitors on a five-day journey of mountain biking, kayaking and trekking across Tasmania providing them with an experience of a lifetime whilst raising money for worthy causes. This years Challenge takes place from the 7th to 11th December.
