Ron Meadows (born 7 February 1964) is a highly respected figure in Formula One, known for his strategic insight, operational excellence, and decades of commitment to motorsport. A British national, Meadows currently serves as the Sporting Director at the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team—one of the most dominant teams in the sport’s modern era.
Meadows’ journey in motorsport began humbly but passionately, working as a mechanic in his early teens. From these hands-on beginnings, he steadily climbed the motorsport ladder, eventually managing his own Formula 3000 team. His pursuit of excellence later took him to the United States, where he worked with Walker Racing in the competitive Indy Car series.
In the late 1990s, Meadows returned to the UK to join Adrian Reynard’s ambitious British American Racing (BAR) project as factory manager. When the Brackley-based team faced a turbulent debut season, Meadows was promoted to team manager, a role he held through the team’s transitions into Honda Racing F1 and later into Brawn GP. It was during his tenure at Brawn that Meadows helped orchestrate one of the most remarkable seasons in F1 history, culminating in the team securing both the drivers’ and constructors’ titles in 2009.

With Mercedes’ acquisition of Brawn GP in 2010, Meadows remained an integral part of the leadership team. As Sporting Director, he has been at the helm of garage operations and the crucial voice on the pit wall, coordinating real-time strategy and serving as the key link between the team and FIA race control. Under his guidance, Mercedes has claimed an unprecedented eight constructors’ titles and seven drivers’ championships, cementing its status as a powerhouse in the hybrid era.
Beyond the paddock, Meadows’ legacy continues through his family. He is the father of racing driver Michael Meadows, the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup champion. Their shared passion for motorsport inspired the founding of Argenti Motorsport in 2019—a karting and Formula 4 team dedicated to identifying and developing the next generation of racing talent. This venture underscores Meadows’ deep-rooted commitment to the sport’s future and his pivotal role in shaping both professional and personal motorsport legacies.
From the workshop floor to the Formula One grid’s front line, Ron Meadows’ story is one of passion, perseverance, and performance—a true architect of modern motorsport success.
