Mansour Ojjeh inherited control of the Techniques d’Avant Garde (TAG) investment company from his father. A lifelong interest in motor racing saw Ojjeh push for a title sponsorship of Williams in 1979, however he was lured away two years later by Ron Dennis at McLaren to invest in a Porsche-built engine for the team. The new TAG Turbo Engines were raced in 1983 and allowed McLaren TAG drivers to dominate that year’s World Championship.
TAG owns 25% of the McLaren Technology Group, the most important asset of which is the McLaren Formula 1 Team.
