Fernando Alonso is best known as the man who brought Formula 1 to Spain. Alonso held the record for the youngest driver to win the Formula 1 World Driver’s Championship in 2005, before being superseded by Lewis Hamilton, and then Sebastian Vettel. He debuted in F1 with Minardi in 2001 and quickly impressed, before being moved, by his manager, Flavio Briatore, to the newly formed Renault F1 team. 4th in the drivers’ standings in 2011, second in 2012, second in 2013, sixth in 2014 and doing not so well in the 2015 season so far, he currently drives for McLaren F1.
