Scalmalloy®, an aluminium-magnesium-scandium alloy, is a lightweight material with high strength characteristics, developed and patented by APWORKS GmbH and normally utilised in the aerospace industry, but with increasing applications in a wide range of fields.
By receiving this certification, Sauber Engineering joins an exclusive club of suppliers on the market officially allowed to print Scalmalloy®: this step forward will allow the company to provide an additional range of service to its growing number of customers, as well as incorporating Scalmalloy® in the production process of the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN Formula One cars.
Joachim Zettler, CEO of APWORKS: “We are very pleased to welcome Sauber Engineering into the family of certified Scalmalloy® part producers. This confirms yet again that Scalmalloy® is the material of choice for Additive Manufacturing of high-performance aluminium components.”
Christoph Hansen, Director of Technology & Innovation of Sauber Engineering: “Achieving the certification to become an official Scalmalloy partner is another acknowledgement of how Sauber Engineering is at the top of the 3D printing technology game. The ability to process advanced materials with proven mechanical properties such as Scalmalloy in a repeatable and consistent manner represents an important element to the wide range of our company’s offerings.”
