Formula 1 continues its itinerary on the American continent with the Las Vegas Grand Prix. It runs on the new track, built in the capital of Nevada, a very fast track.
Ferraris will have to try to bring back enthusiasm to people who are unable to smile with the rankings in hand. The Spaniard Carlos Sainz is sixth in the drivers’ standings with 192 points, very far from the top, occupied by Max Verstappen’s Red Bull with 524 points. Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, is just behind his team colleague on 170 points, the Monegasque driver is even further away from the top step, but in the Las Vegas Grand Prix, he could prove the critics wrong and show what he is made of.
And speaking of Grand Prix, the Bwin odds say that the favourite to win the race is Max Verstappen. Bookmakers are closely watching the competition, with Lando Norris of McLaren, a key figure after the Red Bull driver. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari is also drawing attention, as is Sergio Perez, the other Red Bull driver. Carlos Sainz, in the second Ferrari, is not far behind in the bookmakers’ considerations, and Lewis Hamilton, with his Mercedes, is also a significant contender in their eyes.
As already mentioned, the Las Vegas circuit will be very different than it was in the 1980s. 6,201 km long, it will have 17 curves (11 on the left, six on the right) and will run counterclockwise. It is the second-longest track on the 2023 calendar, preceded only by Spa Francorchamps.
Similar speech for the top speeds, which, due to the long 1.9 km straight, are expected to be second only to Monza. Again, according to the simulations carried out, it is assumed that just over 78% of the total distance of the route will be covered at full throttle. If confirmed, it would be the fourth-best result of the season, behind only Jeddah Street Circuit, Bahrain International Circuit and Monza. However, considering even the slower corners, the drivers would spend just over 66% of the lap at full throttle. A figure comparable to Silverstone.
After the many problems they have had, the two Ferraris will have to try to put their bad thoughts behind them and have a dignified race trying to get in the way of their opponents. In the United States, there are many expectations for the Maranello car manufacturer. In a few days, we will know if Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have respected them.
