In November 2023, Badr Mohammed Al Meer stepped into the role of Group CEO at Qatar Airways, following over a decade of impactful leadership as Chief Operating Officer of Hamad International Airport. His appointment marked a strategic move for an airline already renowned for luxury, innovation, and global reach.
Under Al-Meer’s guidance, Qatar Airways continues its upward trajectory, serving more than 170 destinations across six continents as of March 2024. Hamad International Airport, Qatar Airways’ state-of-the-art hub at the heart of this success, welcomed over 45.9 million passengers and hosted 52 international airlines in 2023 alone. These numbers not only highlight the airport’s growing prominence but also reflect Al Meer’s deep expertise in aviation infrastructure and operations.
Beyond the runway, Al Meer plays a key role on the global aviation stage. He serves on the Board of Governors of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and is a member of the executive committee of the Arab Air Carriers Organisation—positions that allow him to influence the future of air travel regionally and worldwide.
