Lawrence Stroll was appointed Executive Chairman of Aston Martin Lagonda in April 2020, which was a significant moment. His personal commitment to the brand’s long-term vision and revival was evident when he led the Yew Tree Investments consortium to acquire a 16.7% stake in the company, injecting £182 million. This move not only signalled his leadership but also reassured the Aston Martin community about the brand’s future.

The Canadian businessman is renowned for his expertise in building global luxury brands. He made his name through investments in companies like Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, and Asprey and Garrard. Stroll’s journey began over 30 years ago when his family acquired the Pierre Cardin children’s wear license for Canada. In 1989, he co-founded Sportswear Holdings Limited with Hong Kong fashion investor Silas Chou. The pair acquired Tommy Hilfiger and later Pepe Jeans—the parent brand of Aston Martin’s partner, Hackett. Their most notable success came in 2003 with the acquisition of Michael Kors, guiding it through a successful IPO.

Stroll’s influence in the luxury automotive and motorsport sectors is equally significant. He led a consortium in 2018 to acquire the Force India Formula One team, which was rebranded as Racing Point Force India. The team’s re-entry into competition mid-year and their seventh-place finish in the Constructors’ Championship was a testament to Stroll’s influence. The subsequent rebranding of the team as Racing Point F1 Team, with Stroll’s son, Lance Stroll, behind the wheel, and the recent rebranding as the Aston Martin F1™ Team mark a bold new era for the British marque in motorsport.

Beyond Formula One, Lawrence Stroll owned the Canadian race car circuit Circuit Mont-Tremblant in Quebec’s Laurentian Mountains from 2000 to 2022. His car collection is legendary, dominated by classic and modern Ferraris, including the rare Ferrari 250 GTO and LaFerrari. He once owned Quebec’s official Ferrari dealership and also owns other high-performance vehicles, including McLarens and a Ford GT.

On the personal side, Stroll is married to Brazilian fashion designer Raquel Diniz. He was previously married to Belgian-born Claire-Anne Stroll (née Callens), with whom he has two children. Their son, Lance, continues to race in Formula One, while their daughter, Chloe Stroll, is a singer-songwriter.

Lawrence Stroll’s strategic leadership and personal passion continue to shape Aston Martin’s direction—on the road and the racetrack—cementing his place as one of the most influential figures in modern luxury business and motorsport.
