Lance Stroll is a Canadian Formula One driver currently racing for Aston Martin. Born on October 29, 1998, in Montreal, Stroll was introduced to motorsport early, with strong backing from his father, billionaire Lawrence Stroll—owner of the Aston Martin F1 team.
Lance Stroll began karting at age 10 and quickly rose through the ranks, claiming several national titles. He joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2010 and launched his single-seater career in 2014, winning the Italian F4 Championship. More success followed with the Toyota Racing Series title in 2015 and a dominant victory in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2016.
At just 18, Stroll made his Formula One debut in 2017 with Williams. That same year, he claimed his first podium with a third-place finish at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix—becoming the second-youngest F1 driver ever to stand on the podium. In 2019, he joined Racing Point, newly acquired by his father, and impressed with a fourth-place finish in a dramatic German Grand Prix. The following year, he earned his first pole position in Turkey and added two more podium finishes in Italy and Bahrain.
In 2021, the team became Aston Martin, where Stroll partnered with four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel for two seasons. Since 2023, he’s shared the garage with Fernando Alonso and achieved a personal best of 10th place in the World Drivers’ Championship. As of the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix, Stroll has secured one pole and three career podiums, and he’s contracted with Aston Martin through 2026.
Born Lance Strulovitch, he is of Russian Jewish heritage on his father’s side. His mother, Claire-Anne Callens, is a Belgian fashion designer. Lance Stroll holds dual Canadian-Belgian citizenship and is fluent in English, French, Dutch, and Italian. His parents are divorced, and his father is now married to designer Raquel Diniz.
Outside F1, Stroll has also raced in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2016 and 2018, highlighting his broader interest in motorsport.
