Carlos Sainz has officially joined Atlassian Williams Racing for the 2025 Formula 1 season, teaming up with Alex Albon in a bold new chapter of his career. The Spanish driver arrives after four competitive seasons at Scuderia Ferrari, where he notched up four Grand Prix wins and multiple podiums.

Racing runs in Carlos’s veins. He first got behind the wheel of a kart at just 10 years old and quickly climbed the ranks. His early career was marked by standout achievements, including victory at the 2009 KF3 Monaco Kart Cup and a title-winning season in the 2008 Asia-Pacific KF3 Championship.

At 16, Sainz stepped into single-seater racing in Formula BMW Europe, earning a win and several podiums. His rise continued with a dominant performance in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC—10 wins and a championship title. He capped his junior career by winning the Formula Renault 3.5 championship as a rookie.

Sainz made his Formula 1 debut with Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2015, where he quickly gained a reputation for his qualifying speed and racecraft. After three seasons, including a best finish of fourth in Singapore, he made a short stint at Renault before joining McLaren in 2019.

McLaren proved pivotal—Carlos claimed his first F1 podium in Brazil (2019) and a career-best second place at Monza (2020). Both seasons saw him finish sixth in the Drivers’ Championship.

Sainz’s career reached new heights at Ferrari. In 2022, he claimed his first F1 win at the British Grand Prix and followed up with a victory in Singapore in 2023. His 2024 season was his strongest yet: wins in Australia and Mexico, seven additional podiums, and a fifth-place finish in the standings, made more impressive by his swift return from an appendectomy.

In July 2024, Carlos Sainz announced his move to Atlassian Williams Racing. With proven experience and momentum, he’s set to be a key figure in the team’s resurgence.
